Behind every person on the street, there’s a story. It could be your Brother, your Sister, a Loved One. Never assume to know the story, until you take the time to hear it.
Foundation: July 2015
Project Founders: Izabel Brioschi and her husband Jorge Parra.
What they do: They collects Travel-Sized and Alcohol-Free toiletry itens (or cash donation used to buy them), and deliver to men and women at the DTES (The Downtown Eastside is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Vancouver, British Columbia, noted for a high incidence of poverty, drug use, sex trade, crime, violence).
Items inside the bags:
- Individual Package of Kleenex
- Female Hygiene Products (Tampons/Pads)
- Body/Hand Lotion
- Wipes and Deodorant
- Mittens in winter.
Cost of each bag: men’s: $7 – women’s $9. Since its foundation there have been distributed 100 bags every 6 weeks.
Message of Hope: Every blue or pink bag carries a hand written message of hope. Therefore, not only does this Project help with goodies, but also connects with the individuals in a compassionate and non-discriminatory way, offering ears and hearts, handling the bags with some words of good will and a smiling face.
